Haircare & Maintenance

Now that you have your Natural Blends Hair extensions, the most important thing you can do is to handle them with care. With proper care, and depending on how often you wear them, your extensions can last up to 1-3 years. A good rule of thumb is to treat your hair extensions like you would treat your natural hair. This means; consistent washing, deep conditioning, gentle brushing. Storing your hair in our satin storage bag will help preserve softness, reduce friction, and keep your extensions looking and feeling their best.

I'VE RECEIVED MY HAIR, WHAT NEXT?

Carefully inspect your extensions to ensure you're happy with them.
Please note that any hair that has been washed, worn or altered in any way cannot be returned or exchanged.

HOW DO I WASH MY EXTENSIONS?

For best results, separate the hair and wash each weft individually. If you are washing clip-ins, be sure all clips are fully closed to prevent snagging or tangling.

Secure the wefts by hanging them on a hanger, tying them with a hair tie, or holding them in your hand during the washing process.

Thoroughly wet the hair using lukewarm water. Apply a small amount of sulfate-free shampoo and gently smooth your hands down the length of the hair, avoiding rubbing or bunching. Rinse until the water runs clear.

Next, apply conditioner or a deep conditioning treatment. While the conditioner is in the hair, gently detangle using a Tangle Teezer, starting from the ends and working your way up to the root of the weft to minimize shedding.

Leave the conditioner in the hair and place the wefts into a plastic cap. Allow the hair to sit for 5–10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear, then finish with a cool water rinse to help seal the cuticle.

We recommend hanging the hair to air dry. Once fully dry, style as desired.

WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD I USE?

For a lightweight, natural appearance, avoid heavy oils, thick moisturizers, and butter-based products. Unlike your natural hair, extensions do not produce their own oils, so using harsh shampoos or cleansers regularly can cause dryness and reduce longevity.

Cleansers:
Use sulfate-free shampoos and co-washes to gently cleanse the hair without stripping moisture.

Conditioners:
Opt for moisturizing deep conditioning treatments, lightweight leave-in conditioners, and botanical-based gels to maintain softness and manageability without weighing the hair down.

Recommended Brands:
Design Essentials, Olaplex, OGX, Not Your Mother’s, The Doux, Aveda, and Camille Rose.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Wash your extensions as needed or every 2-3 wears. If you're not using heavy styling products you can wash the hair less frequently. Refreshing is also possible.
For curly hair, you may want to re-wet it after each install but it's not necessary to do a full wash routine. By wetting the hair and gently brushing with a Tangle Teezer, you can freshen up the curls/coils.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DETANGLE MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

For best results, detangle the extensions using a Tangle Teezer or your fingers to minimize tension and reduce shedding. When styling, a Denman brush or Tangle Teezer can be used to help define the curls. For effortless curl definition, we recommend using a Bounce Curl brush.

CAN I DYE MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Yes, your hair extensions can be bleached and/or color-treated. However, chemical processing may loosen or alter the curl pattern. To minimize damage and maintain the integrity of the hair, we strongly recommend having your extensions colored by a professional stylist experienced in working with extensions.

CAN I REPLACE A CLIP IF IT BREAKS OR BECOMES LOOSE?

Yes! Clips are hand sewn to the wefts and threads may loosen up over time with normal use. This is normal wear and tear and can be fixed by re-sewing an existing clip or one of the additional clips included with your order.
